Give Thanks Contest

Hi everyone!  I’m making a new contest called “Give Thanks!”  People of all ages can participate and of course, you don’t have to be a certain age anyways to give thanks.  Anyone can give thanks.  For example, a couple days ago we got word from our coordinator here that they cannot find space in just one foster home for Yerlys, Juan, and Jose to be together; so they have been split up.  This broke our hearts again because first they’re split from us and now they’re split from each other.  But even though things have only seemingly gotten worse, we can still be thankful.  Keep praying.  God is in control.  “With God all things are possible” – Mark 10:27.  I believe that.

Okay, so the Give Thanks Contest is not really a contest.  It is just something for eveyone to do leading up to Thanksgiving.  Here are things to do for each group:

0-3 Little Pilgrims:

  • Read a picture book about the Pilgrims with your mommy and snuggle.
  • Tell your mommy and daddy what you like about Thanksgiving.
  • Get a toy boat and drive the Pilgrims all the way to America.

4-10 Pilgrim Children

  • Make a list with 10-50 things listed that you are thankful for.
  • Memorize 1-2  Bible Verses about thanks and giving.
  • Rake your yard for your mom and dad or shovel the driveway.
  • Read a Thanksgiving story.

11-18 Pilgrim Adventurers

  • Make a list with 50-100 things listed that your thankful for.
  • Memorize 3-4 Bible Verses about thanks and giving.
  • Rake the whole yard or shovel the driveway.
  • Read a Thanksgiving story.
  • Make Thanksgiving cookies.

Pilgrim Parents

  • Mom – Make cookies with your children and read them a Thanksgiving story.
  • Dad – Rake leaves or shovel snow with your children.

Okay, now you can go do any of these things above.  But as an extra, send me a Thanksgiving postcard, Thanksgiving picture, or your Thanksgiving Verses and I will send you a surprise back on Thanksgiving.  Now go and give thanks!
