Our Colombian Farm Adventure, Part 1

This weekend we had a fun adventure.  Saturday we woke up ready for the day, had breakfast at the restaurant, and got ready to go on a walk to the park.  We saw a young man selling rides on a huge bike that fitted like six people which was perfect for our size. Trying to figure out how much it cost to ride it was an adventure in itself. Last minute, dad pulled out his handy iPhone and had the guy type into the calculator how much it was.  Mr. iPhone saved the day!  We had to push extra hard on the pedals to keep us moving since there were a lot of us.  Here are some “fotos” ( that is how they spell it and say it here in Colombia) :

After our ride along the River Sinu, (the river is right along the back of the park) we got out and he took a picture for us!

After we got out I heard something rustling in the trees above us.  And behold, there was a monkey.

It was so close that if we would have had food, we could have fed it.  So now for “Our Colombian Farm Adventure.”  A few days ago the owner of this hotel (one of our many friends) told us about a farm that they owned outside of Monteria.  They don’t live there but someone else does.  It is a little family that keeps the farm running.  There was no wifi there so keep in mind that as I write this we are back at our hotel.Juan, Dad and I went with Carlos while Mom, Yerlys, and Jose went with the owner.  We went and picked up Carlos’ girlfriend, Maria.  She is very nice and tries to speak some English.  Carlos soon realized that he did not know the way to get there and we did not know where the others were.  He just said that we would go and end up there sooner or later.  In the middle of nowhere we decided that we would just wait until he passed us.  After about 30 minutes of waiting, Maria realized that she knew how to get there!  After 5 minutes on the road, Carlos found out that they were already there!  We had just totally wasted 30 minutes!  Not long after we had just arrived, we heard someone screaming!  It was Yerlys!  She had fallen in the pool that wasn’t working!  She was shaken up but she was okay.  After that we had a tasty meal we had bought of burritos.  Then we went to sit down on some comfy hammocks before laying down in our room to sleep.
